An old standby. And as you all know by now, I love braids, especially french braids.
* I part her hair in the middle back to the end of the top of her head. (did that make sense?)
* Then down each side.
* I put the hair hanging down in a ponytail holder to keep it out of the way.
* I french braid both of the top sections and braid down to about where the pony is going to be (a little bit further actually) and put rubber bands in to hold the braids.
* Comb the remaining hair and the braids into a ponytail.
* Take out the rubber bands from the bottom of the braids and comb the ponytail out.
* Add a bow, ribbon or flower.
* This takes about 10 minutes.

Four Braids crossed
I love braids!!
This one is really fun. I think that the ribbons could stand to be a little longer though.
* I parted her hair down the middle and then across so it was in four sections.
* I did four ponytails in back. One set pretty high.
* I braided each ponytail just long enough so it reaches the top of the ponytail diagonal from it.
* I crossed the bottom ones first up to the top ones....and used my Jr. TopsyTail to pull them through! You can easily just do it though.
* Then I crossed the top ones to the bottom ones.
* I flat ironed the ends to add a little umph. You could also curl them.
* Added ribbons.
* And...dh noticed that I should have crossed the top right one before I crossed the top left one, so it looks more woven. He's right! Now, this is going to bug me...O'well!
* This took about 10 minutes.

Wrap around ponytail
I have seen this ponytail on a couple other blogs. I think "The mom" on "Babes in Hairland" calls this "The Madonna ponytail."
There are a variety of ways to do this pony. I've seen moms put all but a little bit of the hair at the bottom into the pony then wrap the hair that was left out around the pony and secure it with either hair pins or bobby pins. I've seen moms put all of the hair in the pony then get some hair from the bottom of the pony and wrap in around and secure it.
The second is what I did here. But instead of securing it with hair pins around the pony, I used the good old topsytail to pull it through after I wrapped it around and then secured the last inch or so of hair with a bobby pin underneath the pony.
Depending on what kind of day we will be having determines how I will do this style. If it is a busy day, I will do the hair pins. This day it was ballet, so I did it quickly with the topsytail.
This hairdo takes 2-3 minutes with Hair pins. it takes about 1-2 minutes with the topsytail.

Tuck and Roll
This one was done before the haircut. She named it the "Tuck and Roll" because I tucked it under and it rolled out. I used the topsytail on this, only instead of putting the topsytail through the top of the ponytail, I did it through the bottom. You can totally do it without the topsytail. It's just a "knot" or a "bug" with all of the hair instead of just a little hair. click here for a tutorial by Babes in Hairland. I thought this looked so pretty. I curled it a little bit. I decided that I liked it better without the flower.

Pony triple braid
This is an easy one that will really add a little umph to the ponytail....and if you haven't noticed, I am a little partial to braids!
With this ponytail, I did a side part and did the ponytail low. I really love the way that the side part looks for some reason.
-Separate the ponytail into three sections (as if you were going to braid it)
-Braid each section. I start with the center section, that way Piper can hold the other two. Secure with a rubber band.
-Attach all three sections at the bottom with a rubber band, you will notice that your braids are most likely different length, so then I clip the other rubber bands.
-Add a bow or flower at the top of the pony and curl the hair hanging out.
-I also add a clip in the front.
This took about 5 minutes.

Fishtail/bone
There are soooo many ways to add a little umph to a regular ponytail, and with it being summer time, it is nice to have all that hair off of her neck. I thought I would dedicate a few posts just to ponytails and how to add a little umph to them. Starting with.....Fishbone/tail. I am not exactly sure what the real name is, but we use both terms at our house.
This works best if the hair is damp.
-After you get the ponytail in, separate the hair into 2 sections.
-Take a small section of hair from the right side of the right section and cross it over to the left section.
-Take a small section of hair from the left side of the left section and cross it over to the right section.
-Keep going until you are at the end of the ponytail!
This will actually take awhile. This particular day, it took me about 10 minutes.
I will also do a tutorial on this do!

Two, then one
This is one of those busy day hairdo's we have always called it "two, then one," because one day Piper ask me how I was going to do her hair since we were in such a hurry and I just said, "Two, then one." It stuck. Sometimes I will use the topsytail on this one for the two. Sometimes I Jazz up the pony tail with some sort of special braid or fishbone. I usually use hair elastics and a ponytail holder. Today, we used knot heads. We got them in the mail on Monday.
They were pretty easy to use. I will let you know how much I really like them after the day is over.
You can definitely tell that we were in a hurry, I didn't even braid the ponytail and it has "kinks" in it. Usually I will either braid or get wet and blow dry her hair when there are "kinks" in it. O'well.
